Maintaining your home may seem an impossible task; however, if you follow daily procedures and introduce necessary storage spaces, you can eliminate the clutter and achieve a neat and organized house.

Creating a Home for Everything

In order to achieve a neat and tidy environment inside your home, you must have a place for everything. Things like shoes, clothing, keys and even your remotes can leave your home looking sloppy instead of lived-in. Creating a permanent place for everything in your home will also save you valuable time and energy. The good news is that while initially, this may seem like a daunting task, once you establish a place for everything, you will not only enjoy the clean home appearance, but also be able to find anything.

Return Items to Their Designated Place

Of course, it’s up to you to keep up the appearance of your home by returning items to the place you designate. Otherwise, you’ll end up quickly right back where you started. Thankfully, once you get in the habit of doing it, it will become natural to put your things away.

Eliminate the Appearance of Clutter

Eliminating clutter is easier than you may think and something you can achieve rather easily. There are so many different types of organizers and storage containers that can help you tuck things away properly. For example, if you have a small bathroom and have limited space for towels and essentials, purchase an over-the-toilet shelving unit. You can also add an over-the-door rack for hanging your robe or towels and add over-the-door accessories in the cabinet to house shampoos and soaps. In the living room, you can add an entertainment center with drawers and cabinets and then install TV mounts on the wall.

If laundry piles up quickly in your hallway, purchase a three-section laundry sorter. It will hide the dirty clothes and eliminate the need for sorting them prior to each wash. And, if you have a small bedroom and minimal closet space, buy a new bed frame that has built-in storage drawers.

Clean Up Afterward

Everyone has a bad day where they leave behind a mess. However, if you do this throughout the week you’ll end up wasting a lot of your free time on the weekend with the cleanup. Instead, take the few minutes to put your crafts away or load the dishwasher before heading off to bed.

A Pre-Spring Cleaning

If you have many items you no longer use or want, you can compile them and have either a yard sale or donate them to a local organization such as your church. This will allow you to free up room in your home and gain space for playing, entertaining or simply to get from one room to another with ease.

Make Your Life Easier

There’s an old expression “chaos breeds chaos” and this is true. If you have a home filled with clutter you will have a hard time not only finding things but also existing in it. Creating a neat and organized space takes much of the work out of cleaning your home. Many people simply throw their hands up in the air when it comes to unraveling a large mess. However, if you have a designated place for everything, when it comes time to clean, you know where to put things. This will cut your cleaning time in half and possibly help you to keep your sanity.

You don’t need a home that looks like it’s a showroom. However, you do need a home that’s comfortable, neat and organized. With a few changes in your habits and a few additional storage pieces such as baskets, bins, racks and a TV stand or entertainment center, you can have a home that doesn’t require a weekend to keep clean.
