Oppo A5 is the next most awaited budget smartphone in 2018 arriving as stiff competitors to the reputed models of the Chinese brand Xiaomi and the Taiwanese brand Asus.
What is next in Oppo A series ?
Oppo A series was started in March 2018 with Oppo A1 as its first model and it was followed by Oppo A3 in April. The key specifications of Oppo A5 has already been leaked out during TENNA certification. Some of them are available as follows:
- Display : 6.2-inch IPS LCD
- Resolution: 720 x 1520 pixels
- OS: Android 8.1 Oreo
- Processor: 1.8 GHz Octa-core Snapdragon 450
- RAM/Internal Memory: 4 GB/ 64 GB expandable up to 256 GB
This configuration is sufficient enough to run the applications faster and ensures a user to work on parallel tasks.
- Rear Camera: 13 MP + 2 MP
- Selfie Camera: 8 MP
- Battery: 4230 mAh Li-ion
Although Oppo A5 is the latest upcoming model, its display and memory features seems not to be upgraded from that of Oppo A3 but its battery capacity is enhanced from that of Oppo A3 that is just 3400 mAh.
Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/A-GPS, microUSB 2.0 port and 3.5mm audio port for connecting to speakers and headphones. FM Radio is also supported.
Oppo A5 has a slimmer design but its weight is justified by its bigger screen size that enables users to watch videos and read texts in a pleasant manner. Dual camera set-up supports to increase the blur effects, zoom effects and wide angle photos while the LED flash helps to take photos in a low light. Face unlocking feature is enabled for quick unlocking.
Accelerometer, Proximity and Compass are the notable sensors identified in Oppo A5. A Hybrid SIM slot makes it impossible to use dual sim and memory card at the same time.
Comparing the new Oppo model with the already existing and reputed Xiaomi and Asus models Redmi Note 5 and Zenfone Max Pro M1, its display size is bigger than these models but other aspects like resolution, bezel size, brightness, curved glass, gorilla glass are the features that are unmatched.
While Oppo A5 is powered by Li-ion battery, the other two models have Li-Po battery, of which, 5000 mAh capacity is available in the Asus model.
Anyhow, performance wise, all the above models have equivalent OS, processor and memory features but cost wise, Oppo A5 would be priced around Rs.13,000 intermediate between those models.
According to the requirement aspects, customers have to make their own choice among these budget smartphones.
